Joanna Cameron, LPC

Joanna Cameron attended and graduated from Clark Atlanta University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. In 2000 she went on to obtain her Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Over the past 20 years she has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in a wide array of mental health sectors. Her work began early as a Family Therapist offering Filial Play Therapy and training to families of children with special needs. Gradually moving to the adult population she provided services through a state funded program with Georgia’s state prison system working with ex-felons suffering from co-occurring disorders of mental health and substance abuse. Adolescent and Family therapy services were not far behind as she then went on to gain several years of experience in the public school system providing Individual, family, and group therapies, as well as behavior management trainings for staff and administration to implement in their schools. After several years working for a group practice and various populations Joanna went on to open her own therapy practice in Conyers, Georgia. She uses an eclectic approach to counseling as she believes no one therapy works for every person. Her most used therapy approaches include client-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
